As trends go, get-together vacations for men or women is like old wine in a new bottle. A recent AP article reports on the growing popularity of ‘Mancations’ or guys on vacations enjoying no-guilt outdoor adventures, sports, cigars and beer among other pursuits. The trend of old friends going away on vacations together (minus their families) could potentially be a 11 billion-dollar market, making re-union holidays the old new big idea for hotel packages. One way to tap this trend is to market special offers to former students’ associations of universities and colleges. Other breeding grounds of friendship – professional associations, sports clubs, women’s direct marketing or work-from-home memberships. Unlike other holidays, friends-getaways can be marketed throughout the year.
