Female influences in hospitality

The Chatanoogan reports on the rising influence of women in the luxury travel sphere. As luxury travel takes off, backed by the boom in the hotel industry and positive economic indicators, globally, women of talent and taste are asserting their influence in an industry that was once a male stronghold. According to the article, female hoteliers pay attention to the minutest details, use the finest quality materials and strive to bring the comforts and conveniences of “home” to the most luxurious settings. Females also put guest satisfaction first!

The increasing popularity of spa-vacations & beauty/wellness regimens is bound to accelerate the trend. Perhaps the hospitality industry should turn to women for fresh thought on some major issues – the dying popularity of loyalty programs and amenity creep to name just two. Another area where female focus on customer service could help is airlines where atrocious service (both inflight and on-the-ground) is fast becoming the norm.
